Polymetallic driers for paintwork materials.
A number of formulas of polymetallic (blended) driers have been developed, which are based on 2-ethylhexanoates of "siccative" metals (cobalt, manganese etc.). As a rule, amount of drier input into paintwork material is calculated on the assumption of ratio of active metal and film former, since it is known that drier's action within film forming system considerably depends on its amount. It is experimentally established that desiccation of PF-060 alkyd varnish requires usage of 60-70% (calculating for metal) less of blended octoate driers than those of 64P drier, at that, hardness of hardened coating is higher by 10-15% in the first case.
At present we offer blended polymetallic driers of various kinds to producers of drying oils, oil colours, alkyd varnishes and enamels. Recommendations relating to application are indicated in table below.
